That time I owned a Kids Party Biz…

Many moons ago, I had an entertainment company, and here is how it went…

Tia is still my closest friend and part of the family, we still sing at Christmas for hotels. But my goodness, she put up with ALOT! As my first hire ever at just 18 years old, I really didn’t know how me and Tia would create such an impact with the entertainment biz!

We started before the craze for Princess Parties really began, so there weren’t amazing wig stylists or dress tailors. We all have to start somewhere and for us that as an eBay wig that didn’t fit Tia’s head and an Elsa dress made from a net curtain. (don’t I’m cringing at the thought). I also hadn’t mastered the American Princess voice, so it kept turning into an American Farmer which got a few giggles at my first ever party.
But through hard work, sweat, tears, a family bond, and a few £££, we ended up turning The Dream Team into a sought out entertainment company used by Celeb, Huge Celeb charities, and Stunning London venues while all keeping the magic available for the families that helped start The Dream Team.

We traveled far and wide creating magic in some incredible venues such as the famous Stoke Park in London! I was truly a Princess for a day working as Princess Beauty.

We had some magical events where guests could swim Mermaids and then afterward dine with Barbie Popstars while being served Ice Cream Sundaes from Mermaids.

Or they could choose to join the Snow Sisters at ‘The Ice Cream Parlour’ as they sang songs, fed ice cream, and went away with enough sweets, balloons, and magic for the year.

We had stilt walkers, ballerinas, ariel hoop acts, glitter bars, Live singers… basically, we did it all. (and we did it good!)

At one point we even had our own venue. You could see shows, and have parties and the front was a magical candy store. (I know, I’m a bit over the top with everything)

THIS IS WHY I GET YOU. I’VE BEEN THERE. I KNOW THE END GOAL.. AND I KNOW HOW HARD YOU WOULD WORK TO ACHIEVE IT!

One of my first events in our new venue, the whole place was ‘under the sea’ and I was super nervous. Why? Because of the first ever event, I was Rapunzel, the event went amazing, filled with so much joy and the end of the final number as we said goodbye to the over-excited children and the overjoyed parents I wasn’t watching where I was going. I completely missed the doorway and ended up smacking into a wall, quite painfully, and the venue erupted with laughter. Thankfully I was Rapunzel, so not too out of character?

SO WHY DID I CLOSE AND OPEN THE SOCIAL DUO?

Getting personal, before COVID hit me and my husband had been trying to have a baby for so long and I was juggling the fertility treatment and entertainment business, and it was getting all too much. Thankfully dreams do come true and after 6 years of treatment, we found our we were expecting our IVF miracle in Feb 2023.

Before Covid hit, I was talking to my mum about how I wanted to go back to my first business idea, creating websites for women as I had trained in Web Design and coding after school and had been building websites and designing graphics ever since I was young with my first laptop! But giving up The Dream Team after everyone’s efforts and it being a family business was hard. Then Covid happened and took the decision out of my hands, I opened the business I wanted and it took off.. the rest was history.

Well, The Social Duo has been a dream come true. I still create magic and get to do this business I wanted from home. And for that, I am so thankful.
